The style at the Sirkus nightclub in Oslo is best described as eclectic. Combining big top quirkiness with flashy details, wild plants with Hollywood glamour, it is the sort of place you want to go just to get a selfie there, it is so unique and stunning. And everything is unbelievably shiny, as in every surface seems to glitter and glow in the light. It is quite simply surreal to be stood in the middle of the dance floor.

Living up to its name, Oslo's Sirkus nightclub provides a range of shocking and amusing shows like you would find in a real circus. Of course an issue here is that some of the shows are in Norwegian. This isn't a problem for most events, as the show is pretty easy to follow, but it might be frustrating if you want something where you can understand the words. The venue does largely cater to locals, so make sure to make it clear you want to speak in English when communicating with staff.

The staff are friendly and helpful, from the waitresses attending to your bottle service needs, right up to the security who patrol the area to make sure everyone is safe. If you are a bit intimidated by very busy clubs or you have had bad experiences in terms of service, this is the club to restore your confidence in all clubs.

The venue's traditional full bar provides a wide range of great drinks and light bites, enough to make sure that you can have a snack whilst watching the show, and stay happily drinking all night long. The cocktails range from typical to unique twists, and the snacks are European, mostly Norwegian and Spanish.

The dress code isn't super strict, but they do have certain requirements. You need to look classy and stylish, whatever your personal style is. So no distressed looks, no alternative make up, and no simple and messy looks. When it comes to gentlemen, buttoned shirts and polished shoes are essential. Sportswear is strictly prohibited. But of course as a venue with an edgy and alternative vibe, if you like to dress goth, punk, or in another alternative style, you won't be turned away so long as your look is neat, clean, and lacking sportswear items.

Like most great nightclubs in Oslo, the Sirkus Club closes early compared to the rest of Europe. As most Norwegians do not party until the sun comes up, this makes sense, though. The age limit at this club is a bit lower than at most Oslo nightclubs, if only by a year: 20. Then again, if you are exactly 20 years old and want to have a great night out, it really increases your options.

The entrance fee can be incredibly steep on the day, and truly the only way of guaranteeing you can get in is to reserve a table and/or bottle service, and be on the guest list. Not only does it mean you can get in, but it actually works out cheaper than paying the cover fee anyway. Absolute no-brainer.
