There is a slight aura of mystery surrounding the L8 Nightclub in Stockholm. Because it largely caters to the young locals, it can be hard to find much information about it in English. Expect plenty of dance and electronica music, stuff that will get you moving, but not necessarily have many vocals. The tunes they play that have lyrics tend to be Top 40 tracks, which is pretty neat if you like to know the words to the songs you listen to, or if you just feel more comfortable with English tracks. The DJs are local talent, but very skilled and very fun, especially if you understand enough Swedish to "get" everything they say.
Please bear in mind that the venue caters primarily to native Swedes, and that not all the staff will speak perfect English, much less any other language. If the language would be a barrier to you, consider going with friends who speak Swedish, or finding a Swedish promoter via Clubbable, if you just want to get in and don't mind exploring on your own once you're inside.
All that said, the staff here are super friendly, and if you're polite to them, they will make every effort to ensure you are understood, that you are assigned a waitress or bottle girl who speaks better English, and that you get that world-class VIP treatment you deserve when enjoying Stockholm nightlife. The fact that the staff are pretty attractive people helps a bit too, though.
Because of the limited capacity at this popular Swedish club, making it on the guest list is often not enough. You will be given priority over the people in the queue, most of whom will not get through the door, but they do not have enough space if half their guest list were to show up at once. So, to make absolutely sure you get in, don't just get on the guest list: reserve a table and bottle service too! That way you know for sure that they will have space for you.
For that reason, if you don't like a pretty crowded, energetic place full of beautiful young people dancing all night, then this might not be the club for you. It is not really a place for people-watching, quiet conversation, or sitting at the bar for a couple of drinks. This is a high-energy, youthful, vibrant venue with a real party atmosphere. So if you're an extroverted, fun-loving person who loves dancing, meeting new people, and generally having a wild time, then this is the place for you!
Once you're in, the prices are surprisingly good. When going out looking for fun things to do near Lastmakargatan, you don't expect to pay so little for such great drinks and service, and it can be a nice surprise when you realize how easily you will get all the way through the night. Which makes bottle service triple worth-it, by our count: great staff, limited capacity, and comparatively cheap bottle service? That's just a dream come true!
The dress code at this club can be a little strict. Make sure that your look is polished, without sportswear, streetwear, or distressed clothes. Nothing too skimpy, no men's jewellery, and women really ought to be in heels.
